Air Quality Control in the Pharmaceutical Sector with OXITEC® 500E

The name ENOTEC is often misleadingly associated only with flue gas analysing technology which, because of the other flue gas components and the high temperature of the oxygen measurement is one of the most challenging applications for ZrO2 measuring technology. But this is only one of many applications and  atmospheric oxygen control is a field of application for which the zirconium dioxide measuring technology is ideally suited.

For example, during October 2008, ENOTEC will deliver to Laboratoires THISSEN S.A. in Belgium, an atmospheric oxygen control system with 18 measuring points. The installation monitors several laboratory chambers in which pharmaceuticals are manufactured under contract for companies such as Aventis. In this application two OXITEC® 500E analysers, installed in an analyser cabinet, measure the atmospheric oxygen from 18 different measuring points. The extracted compartment air is monitored at two limit values. If exceeding these values, e.g. due to a leaky N2 pipe, the control system switches on a  forced draft fan or may even lead to an evacuation of the personnel.

Coal Milling Installation in Saloniki, Greece

In October 2001, ENOTEC delivered a gas analysing cabinet with 5 CO-analysers and 1 O2 measuring systems for a coal milling installation in Saloniki, Greece. It is a critical measurement for operational safety, as O2 and CO values that are too high can lead to a dangerous condition and risk of an explosion.

In addition to the OXITEC® Oxygen analyser system we used a SIEMENS ULTRAMAT 23 to measure the CO. A special feature of the analyser system is the 5 CO gas sampling probes are activated with a special cyclic program operated by solenoid valves. The process gas from each CO extraction probe is then automatically fed to the IR analyser in turn.
